So there’s big news! I have been working as a Contributing Editor with American Photo since last fall and the first issue is officially out. From mission statements, story ideas, design treatments and next years line-up it’s been an exhilarating process. There is so much to be excited about as the magazine begins to reclaim it’s relevance as a resource for spotting industry trends, inspires readers to create beyond their limits and serves as a nexus of sharing content. I was recently asked by a magazine for a list of 20+ photographers relevant to the industry today and I realized that there were only three woman on my entire list. I’m not a sexist jerk so I though there must be something I was missing. That sparked a conversation with my friend, fellow artist, author and educator, Angela Faris-Belt about Women in Photography and the Shifting Gender Ratio.
