The PR team at Life Time Athletic Events, the organizers of the New York City Triathlon, reached out to me again this year to photograph portraits of triathletes for the 2014 Panasonic New York City Triathlon. Working directly with the Life Time PR team and their partners at FOX Business Network we created an on-site social media gallery of enthusiastic athlete portraits for Facebook the day before the race as athletes delivered their bicycles to the secure transition areas. The work was designed to build immediate touch points for the social media campaign while creating powerful sport advertising portraits that accurately represent the loyalty and comradery of triathletes, paratriathletes and event volunteers.
Working with the tireless PR team at Life Time Athletic Events we set up two portrait centers on location for the athletes, one for each transition area: Red & Yellow. Volunteers helped recruit, ID and keep the energy high over multiple hours of shooting in the New York City summer heat.
