Body image and figurative photography Alchemy Panel Discussion
Join us this Thursday, at Gallery Max SoHo for a Panel Discussion as we address body image and figurative photography.
Award-winning photographer Michel Leroy’s Alchemy series of black and white photos will be on exhibit at the Gallery Max SoHo from October 2nd through the 23rd, 2019. The exhibit features never-before-seen photos from Leroy’s ongoing series that explores the tension between physicality and identity.
In conjunction with the exhibit a live panel discussion open to the public focusing on body positive issues in contemporary art will take place on October 10th at the Gallery Max (details below).
The repeated and gradually institutionalized trend of intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself about identity, gender roles and the “ideal” of beauty have accelerated the need for figurative photography that is relevant, inclusive and challenges ideology in a global community.
Artist Michel Leroy recognizes the relevance of this issue in the social media age and is dedicated to creating images that embrace the conversation and encourages a critical dialogue of acceptance and mutual respect for every body type, no matter the size, color, race or sexual identity.
The gallery has invited five panelists to speak on the Alchemy series and their experiences and expertise.
